CEDIA Expo 2024 Rewind

CEDIA EXPO 2024 is in Autumn’s rearview mirror, but the frenzied activity experienced in the greatly expanded AVPro booth still reverberates. Shohei Ohtani is not the only one having a great year!

AudioControl hit back-to-back home runs, first with a CE Pro Best Product Award for the upcoming Hyperion Series of components featuring revolutionary gallium nitride (GaN) amplifier output stage topologies, offering powerful performance alongside AVPro Edge’s reliable video technology to tackle HDCP and HDMI issues. With Dante on board, it’s making waves across the industry. The Hyperion Series is set to launch by Spring 2025.

AudioControl’s next round-tripper the new Bijou Series. Compact in size yet built for speed, the Bijou 2100, 3100, and 5100 are also built upon a GaN amplifier platform in two, three, and five-channel configurations featuring eARC connectivity, auxiliary analog and digital inputs, and subwoofer output, with the 5100 Dante-enabled.
AudioControl also unveiled its first-of-its-kind ACP-DANTE-ETV, a PoE eARC-to-Dante encoder designed to transfer display-derived audio to Dante-enabled devices 100% lossless and delay-free. Adopting the same form factor as the ACP-DANTE-E-POE and ACP-DANTE-D-POE encoder/decoder duo, this trio are ready to help whenever the situation calls for it. They join the new M4800D and M6800D Dante versions of Director M Series network amplifiers.

Like baseball and apple pie, 47-year-old AudioControl remains American-based in Seattle, WA. Here’s a little inside scoop: AudioControl GaN amplifier modules are fabricated and manufactured in AVPro’s Sioux Falls state-of-the-art facility.

AVPro Edge came to play, with the new AC-MV-41 quad-view processor on display. AVPro engineers demonstrated a beta version of a forthcoming AC-MV-41 application compatible with Android and iOS that provides dynamic layout control with universal remote functions for audio switching and source maneuverability.

As it has been since its launch, fan-favorite MXnet demonstrated its deep AV-over-IP ecosystem triple-crown bench of 1G, 1G EV2, and 10G. AVPro Edge also demonstrated seven 8K signal distribution, switching, scaling, and extension products designed to future-proof any installation.

Murideo demonstrated prototypes of an ultra-compact HDMI continuity and signal path verification pair of devices designed for rack-building and in-field use. Called the STIX system consisting of the MU-STIX-G generator and the MU-STIX-A analyzer, these 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 mini-instruments will provide economical pattern generation and analysis to assist technicians with system configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Bullet Train was warming up a new series of soon-to-be-released HDMI cables called the Calibrators Series. Designed to comply with new regulations that combat radiated electronic noise, these premium 48 Gbps cables feature unique shielding that extends deep into the headshell, isolating high-frequency noise from exiting the cable to infiltrate surrounding equipment while preventing contaminating noise from entering the cable. The Calibrator Series is a must-have for concentrated rack environments or any application where high reliability and signal integrity are mission-critical. Future-forward 10K resolution support assures cable compatibility with system upgrades.
Recent acquisition ThenAudio displayed its latest generation of HDMI 2.1 problem-solvers. Newly revised for 48 Gbps compatibility, these devices contain highly sophisticated ARC, eARC, and CEC algorithms that transcend routine connectivity management to ensure that systems with legacy, but usable products can interface with NextGen technologies. Individually, they perform outside-the-box tasks such as connecting two eARC devices to a single display or utilizing proprietary algorithms to overcome manufacturers’ loose interpretation and poor implementation of ARC, and especially CEC. They uniquely populate the display’s input menu, allowing fool-proof selection of multiple devices that utilize a single HDMI input via a ThenAudio device. Eliminate secondary truck rolls by bringing in these Fix-it “closers” from ThenAudio to earn the save and get the win.
